Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs
Peter J. Nicholls began his tenure as provost and executive vice
president for academic affairs at the University of Connecticut
in 2005. Nicholls joined UConn after serving as provost and
academic vice president of Colorado State University.
Before joining Colorado State University, Nicholls was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Kansas State University and held a position at Kansas State as professor of mathematics.
A native of Great Britain, Nicholls received his bachelor of science from London University and his doctorate in mathematics from Cambridge University. He has researched the field of pure mathematics, focusing on the study of discrete groups, Riemann surfaces and topological dynamics. He has published numerous scholarly articles and his research has been funded by grants from the National Science Foundation.
